Overview

Akamai Technologies is looking for a talented individual with a proven track record to take up an exciting role of a Senior Release Engineer within the Enterprise Zero Trust Security team. As a Senior Release engineer, you will be working with a talented group of individuals to plan, communicate, execute and deliver our major products and solutions. You will also be tasked with coordinating and managing software releases for our networks and security products. As a Senior Release Engineer , you will be responsible for:

  • Using process and best practices to ensure the successful planning and delivery of products, projects and releases

  • Coordinating and managing Akamai Network, AWS and client-based software releases

  • Proactively identifying hurdles in the release process, driving release process/SDLC changes and enforcing processes with various stakeholders

  • Building tools that help automate release, deployment, monitoring and operations-oriented processes

  • Building and maintain test and production infrastructure based on an understanding of Akamai's systems and software

  • Communicating with Software Engineers, QA Engineers, Program Management and Operations staff on schedules and priorities to ensure that releases are on track

  • Creating self-service capabilities for developers to write and manage production code

  • Understanding, implementing, and automating security controls, governance processes and compliance validation

  • Staying up-to-date on relevant technologies internally as well as externally, plugging into user groups, understanding trends and opportunities to ensure that we are using the best possible techniques and tools

About the Team

The Enterprise Application Access team provides secure solutions that protect enterprise applications hosted both in the cloud or behind the corporate firewall and is at the core of Akamai’s Zero Trust offering. You will work with an energetic team of stakeholders across different functions to help the team deliver functionality to our enterprise customer base.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:

  • 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or

  • 6 years of relevant experience and a Master’s degree or

  • 3 years of relevant experience and a PhD

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in Release Management or DevOps

  • 5+ years of scripting experience using Python or a similar language

  • 5+ years of experience using source control systems such as Git or Perforce

  • 3+ years of experience with TCP/IP networking and general debugging in a Linux/Unix environment

  • 3+ years of experience with SQL or equivalent database language

  • 3+ years of experience using continuous integration systems such as Jenkins

  • 3+ years of experience managing and deploying systems to cloud providers, such as AWS, Azure, etc.

Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of Internet technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, SSL, TLS, streaming, web servers, etc.)

  • Experience building, deploying software on client-based platforms such as Windows, MacOS, Android or iOS

  • Experience with Atlassian Tools such as JIRA/Confluence

  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (Engineering, QA, release management, network operations, product management, professional services, etc.)

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, and the ability to drive the day-to-day activities of internal resources

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp new technologies

  • Must be action oriented, capable of multitasking well based on priorities

  • Strong team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies

  • Experience with UI automation frameworks such as Selenium
