About the Job
Identity and Access Management (IAM) Engineer is responsible for the end to end design, implementation, configuration and documentation of Akamai's IAM solutions with a focus on Single Sign-On solutions. Candidates must be able to conduct in-depth technical research, assessments, and performance analysis to support and design Single Sign-On strategies as well as to provide guidance and support to other Identity and Access Management technologies.
Function as SME for Single Sign-On and MFA solutions, actively onboarding and assisting integration of web applications (Enterprise and SaaS) on the SSO platform.
Engage, coordinate and plan integrations working with application owners and vendors.
Extend technical support and assistance as needed to business owners for successful integration and rollout
Provide ongoing engineering and Tier 3 support of Single Sign-On and MFA tools, while acting as an escalation point for operations team and support issues
Design and implement Single Sign-On services that effectively reflect business needs, service-level and availability requirements while being robust and scalable to support; including performance analysis and optimization, monitoring, problem resolution, upgrade planning and execution, and process creation and documentation
Ensure new Single Sign-On integrations are adequately tested and integrated with infrastructure and application services
Mentor and train operational staff in order to support SSO and MFA services
Apply business and technical analytical skills to identify complex business & operational issues and design, develop and implement comprehensive support processes to resolve complex business & operational issues
Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and training plans for IAM services and their appropriate use
Assist in the development of an IAM strategy that aligns with Akamai’s business objectives
Remain knowledgeable of trends and advancements in information systems and information technology in order to assess the feasibility of implementing new services, systems, and technologies
About the Team
As a Senior Systems Engineer on the Identity and Access Management Engineering (IAM) team you will play an integral part in ensuring the right Akamai individuals access the right resources at the right time. The IAM team is a highly skilled group of geographically dispersed engineers that manages authentication, authorization, and privileges within or across system and enterprise boundaries.
The key objectives of the IAM team are to increase security and productivity while decreasing cost, downtime and repetitive tasks. We meet these objectives through analysis, design and implementation of IAM solutions which include Identity Federation (e.g. SAML (Shibboleth), SSO, ADFS), Multi-factor Authentication (MFA), SailPoint IIQ, One Identity (formerly Quest) Active Roles Server (ARS), Active Directory (AD), CyberArk Account Security (AS), Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), and Identity Management (IdM).
The IAM team is part of the Enterprise Platform Engineering (EPE) group which is responsible for the design, deployment and management of IAM, enterprise hosting and enterprise storage services at Akamai, and part of Akamai's Corporate IT organization.
Required Education and Experience
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or its equivalent.
5+ years of applied experience with Single Sign-On
5+ years of Systems Engineer experience
3+ years of applied experience with Shell/Perl Scripting
Excellent troubleshooting skills, including the troubleshooting and debugging SSO issues
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills; ability to effectively explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical staff including executives
Strong attention to detail with excellent organization skills
Strong experience with source control systems (e.g. Git) and configuration management (e.g. Ansible) tools
Extensive experience with Shibboleth IdP (SAML)
Experience with Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS)
Experience with MFA technologies [e.g. 2-Factor, Duo or other Security Tokens/Security Token Services (STS)]
Working knowledge of Windows based scripting technologies (VBscript,PowerShell)
Knowledge of Linux/Unix authorization and authentication modules
Understanding of the use of certificates, PKI, keystores, signing, encryption, and cryptographic protocols such as TLS
One Identity (formerly Quest) Active Roles Server (ARS) configuration and engineering experience
Good understanding of the ITIL frameworks along with the incident, problem and change management processes and procedures
Willingness to take initiative and to overcome obstacles to achieve personal, organizational, and company goals
Passion for pushing the limits of IAM technologies and their use in the workplace as a means to accomplish business objectives
Good analytical skills and Project Management skills
The ability to work well within a technical team, as well as interface well with the outside business units, HelpDesk team, Desktop support team, IT developers and analysts, and individual customers from the business user community.
